pdfSAM means Split and Merge your PDFs~

.: Last two days I'm in desperate need to separate some pages in a pdf and to make it as a single document. Before instructing Google to search that software for me, I manipulate what pdf software I already have... That's we called it "manipulated initiative", LOL~   :-P

The first idea I had in mind is to open that target document, re-print it again with doPDF v7. I choose to print for selected pages, and compared the reprinted pdf with the original.

Result : The size of the images and texts from the reprinted pdf is much smaller than the original. Thus, this software half-failed my quest already.

My second initiative is to use another print-to-pdf software, ImagePrinter 2.0.1. By changing the settings from PNG to PDF, I choose to print my preferred pdf page with this software.

Result : To my dismay, the printed pdfs is not in whole document, but it is in multiple pdfs. Hahahaha. I totally forgot that this software is incapable of joining documents (did it?). Plus the outcome pdf has it's text and images shrunked. Another not-so-fail attempt.

Third try...

Okay, I need to command my loyal servant to look up the Net if such software capable of separating selected pages from a pdf without shrinking it's texts or it's images or it's quality exists. Google boy, come help meeee~~~

Nee nong, neee nongggg~ (sounds like an ambulance siren)..

Alrighttt~ It's done. The correct term to search such software is "how to split my pdf", and the first result is the blog who review about pdfsam (pdf Split and Merge), a helpful open source software that I've been looking for.

So, from a pdf of 6 pages, I split it up to one pdf from page 1 to 4, and another pdf from page 5 and 6. Let's see what happens..

Result : Good job torakiki! Your free software help make my day! Pdf splitting project is now complete. I liiiiiiiiiiiiike, thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuu~~    X-D

By the way, pdfSAM can merge your pdfs too~

7 Ways to abduct the light pimp screen pixlr grabber!!

.: What? That title suppose to mean what?? An alien abduction conspiracy???

I've been a loyal Fx users since I met her last 2008 or 2007. I'm alternating between the install-in-your-PC version and the portable version. Oh yeah, I use both Fx at my workplace, at my home. The unlikely event from using my beloved Fx is... Why Firefox doesn't have the backward ability for their add-ons?? With newer Firefox, older add-ons is no longer working anymore. Why??? Whyyyyyy Firefox whyyyyyyyy????  X-O

Never mind. I can live with that. Here I'm gonna lists all my past 6 Firefox add-ons for printing/capturing my computer screen from Fx 2.# until Fx 4b9~~

The very first add-on buddy for my print screen work. No longer supported by Fx4b9. It can support whole page capturing as well the selected area too. Even though it can capture flash, but I prefer other add-on to do that.

2. Abduction : Fx add-on no 3408.

One of what I classify as the most powerful screen grabber at that time. Too bad it uses too much source when taking screenshots of an entire page...

3. Pixlr Grabber : Fx add-on no 9924.

When my Abduction disabled, I choose you, Pixlr! Ooops.. Pixlr is a special version screen grab tool because this is the first add-ons I found to integrate an online and powerful Photoshop-like image editor too. Wow~

4. Screen Capture Elite: Fx add-on no 4913.

The next generation of my Abduction? Whoa.. But this add-on does not have the online image editing feature. Just an enhanced normal screen capture tool~

Saya sedikit terkesima lagikan terkezut dua langkah ke belakang kerna betapa kurengs-nya hyperbolic romanticism dalam pendahuluan buku pengaturcaraan yang saya beli. Pendahuluannya terlampau saket hati dan buhsan dibaca dengan kata-kata "komputer adalah perkara paling biasa dalam abad ke-21 ini" dan "ia menyambungkan platform asas-asas dan teori dunia sains komputer kepada dunia moden". Betul jugak kata-kata dia. Serius betul, kalau baca buku pengaturcaraan programming jarang sangat nak jumpa buku yang bila kita baca kita tau buku tu untuk kita baca sampai habes. (Ye ke? Ada buku macam tu ke?).

Ada buku programming pun, isinya ada tema macam buku kanak-kanak baru nak cuba buat eksperimen sains, dah baca sampai tengah-tengah sikit buku tu dah jadik kamus dengan gaya bahasa yang terlampau berat, dan hujung-hujung buku pulak budak-budak yang tengah buat projek Sains komputer akan pergi carik kat internet kemudian copypaste kod yang ada sambil ubah sikit atas, ubah siket kat bawah dan cakap tu hasil kerja dia. Atoiiii~~

Sapa suka baca buku kalau dia tak faham apa-apa kan? Internet kan antara cara budak-budak sekolah dan pelajar Universiti habiskan tugasan assignment dengan motto "work smart" tak payah "work hard-hard"? Haa... haaaa.... kantoisss~   ;-)

Samsung CES2011 AMOLED: Green BioTechnology?

.: Define: AMOLED. Awesome magic of light-emitting display? Naaaahh...   :-P

Cemburu la jugak tengok orang lain best-best dapat tengok pameran teknologi, dekat sini cuma dapat tengok gambar aja. Jadi la kan, dari tak dapat tengok apa-apa atau cuma dapat dengar berita je, kan kan kan?

Pagi nih, terbaca feed dari PCMag: The Most Important Products at CES, rasa terkesima dan macam tak percaya je benda yang pernah tengok-tengok dalam movie atau anime Jepun, sekarang dah betul-betul depan mata. Masa depan ke nih? Kita dah tak lama lagi ke nak 2020? Kita ke atau "diorang" yang 2020???

Active-matrix OLED atau nama penuhnya Active-matrix Organic Light-emitting Diode adalah salah satu teknologi paparan visual yang digunakan dalam alat mudahalih atau televisyen terkini. OLED ialah sejenis teknologi paparan senipis filem yang bahan electroluminiscentnya diperbuat daripada bahan organik, dan active-matrix di sini merujuk kepada teknologi penyusunan dan pengelasan pixel-pixelnya.

Trade show CES Antarabangsa 2011 yang telah berlangsung pada hari Khamis Januari 6 hingga Ahad Januari 9, 2011 ialah antara pameran yang amat ditunggu-tunggu oleh peminat barangan elektronik. Ini kerana pameran yang berlangsung di Pusat Konvensyen Las Vegas di Nevada inilah tempat konsep dan peralatan elektronik terbaru ditunjukkan kepada umum (umum untuk mereka yang telah mendaftar sahaja). CES 2011 ini juga merupakan platform untuk AMOLED diperkenalkan kepada dunia.

Berbalik kepada teknologi AMOLED yang macam best tu, hanya video aja dapat menunjukkan keterbestan AMOLED. Jom tengok video jom~~

Why your Windows becomes very very super slow mo with Avast as your antivirus?

.: Three (3) big updates for me this week.

1. Firefox 4 beta 9. 
2. Proprietary software updates. 
3. Program update for Avast 5.0.677 to 5.1.889. 

Mozilla Firefox 4 beta 9 : The second last beta for Firefox?

First thing first, Firefox 4 beta. I am quite a big fan of portable Fx, so updating and using the new Fx4b9 is a must. Plus I can send feedback about my preferred sites whether it is working correctly or not. ;-)

The question is, why use portable Fx when you can install it directly into your PC?
Urm... I dunno.. hahaha~   X-D

Then it's time to check my Firefox plugins - is it updated to the latest version or not? Nope, I had to re-install my new plugins: Adobe Flash player 10.1.102.64 (2.66 MB), Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U23 (15.3 MB), and the new Adobe Reader X (35.09 MB). Whoa, the new Adobe incorporates the SS-factor (SS is SocialSharing) and had enabled 'comments', wow, now even PDFs can go social, oh yeahhh~~  :-P

And while on my way to happily blogging and researching, I noticed that my PC becomes super super slow mo.. And you should know what I feels inside!

Tsk, I hate this. I wonder is it because I use the old Fx4b7 and update it to Fx4b8 and to Fx4b9, and this is why it becomes slow? So, I download a new and clean Fx4b9 and reinstall my preferred Firefox add-ons again. Nope, it still slow...

My slow definition here means that when I opens a Youtube video, it only "loading" about 3 times or none at all for the video to finish. And my Facebook games should loads almost in a blink of and eye, but this time the slowessness is ridiculous! Fx4b9? Why you treat me like this???   :-(

Avast 5.1.889?

Then, somehow, like an intuition, I remembered just now I had updating my Avast 5 program from version 5.0.677 to 5.1.889 and I haven't restart my PC yet. From my past experience with AVG update, maybe Avast 5 is the culprit...

PC restarts..

Now, with some CCleanering, RevoUninstalling, and...... Yes! Now I know why. When updating Avast 5 program, please and always restart your PC so your Avast will start using the new antivirus engine. If not, you're toast, like me... My previous experience is much more dramatic, I can't even click anything from my PC because my AVG is not updated. I even cannot open my Firefox, but this Avast 5 program update still let me open my Fx, but with AVG last time, no, it very is time consuming because you had to wait and wait and waits..

So, the moral of this post is.. Always restarts your PC when they ask you to. Don't delay-delay~~

How to slightly speed up Avast 5 for faster boot time.

Yup, just like the title suggest, How to "Slightly" speed up our Avast 5 for faster Windows boot time. Ya, just slightly speedier... :-(

If you thinks that your Avast 5 is making your Windows boot time a little slower than usual, this is a little tweak to help you speed it up.

First, open up your Avast UI (user interface). Click the Avast 5 shortcut (like the picture above).

Click the 'Settings' menu.

Then, under our Avast 'Basic Settings', uncheck the box for 'Use special graphic effects, (nicer, but may slow down performance on some systems)'.

And lastly, (eh? last already?) click the 'Troubleshooting' menu (still inside Avast settings). Uncheck another two more boxes:

• Enable rootkit scan on system startup.
• Skip checking of digital signatures of infected files.
